Autonomy Corporation plc, a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced the availability of Autonomy Arcpliance, a new on-premise digital archiving appliance. Autonomy Arcpliance leverages the next-generation archiving capabilities of Autonomy Digital Safe, Autonomy’s cloud-based archiving solution, to provide a turn-key and cost-effective archiving appliance. The appliance is ideal for mid-sized businesses or organizations seeking a simplified yet scalable solution for specific tasks - such as archiving application, divisional, or location-specific data.

Autonomy Arcpliance extends Autonomy’s comprehensive next-generation archiving offering - which includes both cloud-based and on-premise solutions and meets the diverse archiving demands of all types and sizes of organizations. These solutions include Autonomy Digital Safe, which manages the world’s largest cloud-based archive at over 10 petabytes, and the Autonomy Enterprise Archive Solution (EAS), a highly scalable on-premise solution that captures and preserves electronically stored information (ESI) for litigation readiness, information governance, and storage optimization.

Powered by Autonomy’s Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL), Autonomy’s archiving solutions automatically ingest, de-duplicate, index and extract metadata from files. Autonomy IDOL automatically understands how to manage each piece of content, thus eliminating the burden of acquiring, implementing and managing local compliance grade storage, including the time and cost associated with backups, administration, software upgrades and technical support.

Autonomy Arcpliance - Combining Power and Simplicity into One Archiving Box

Businesses and government institutions can use Autonomy Arcpliance to intelligently archive all data types - including email, audio, applications, and SharePoint files - without the need for significant hardware, software, and IT personnel resources. The appliance is very easy to setup and delivers an intuitive, easy end-user experience.

Autonomy Arcpliance combines this simplified, turn-key approach with the enterprise-class, massively scalable capabilities of Digital Safe. These include Autonomy’s unique split-cell architecture developed in response to shortcomings in Storage Area Networks and other network storage devices that failed to maintain performance when archiving the massive amounts of email, audio and content generated by companies. The split-cell architecture is a grid-based design that is infinitely scalable, maintaining performance under any load.

"With over a decade of experience in tackling some of the world’s most complex archiving challenges, there is not a scenario, data type, or business case that we have not successfully covered," said Mike Sullivan, CEO of Autonomy Zantaz. "With Autonomy Arcpliance, Autonomy is delivering this world-class technology and expertise in an easy to install, turn-key appliance. We see a significant market that is ready to ‘turn on’ Autonomy archiving with the Arcpliance box."
