FileWorks, Inc. announced the release of a new service targeting small- and medium-sized businesses, corporate departments, remote offices and entrepreneurs. FileWorks Online offers secure, Web-based data storage and online document management, including integrated scanning software, electronic signatures, and more starting at $29.99 per month.

FileWorks Online was developed to meet the security needs for sensitive digital information while providing controlled, auditable remote access to documents and online business technology tools. Priced for small business, but robust enough for the enterprise, FileWorks Online will prove invaluable for law practices, realtors, property managers, accountants, consultants, contractors, project managers, human resource departments or any corporate business division that handles sensitive documents or requires signed authorizations. It is also ideal for businesses with multiple offices or mobile workers who need the flexibility of secure, remote access to a central data repository.

The heart of FileWorks Online is a secure, central file storage system that unifies data files online, eliminating the risk of losing sensitive paper or laptop data. Individual folders can be designated as private or shared for collaboration. FileWorks Online provides secure access from any Web browser, enabling users to retrieve their files and send or receive faxes from anywhere.

FileWorks has extensive experience with IT security through its work designing network content management solutions for leading health care and corporate customers. All documents stored on FileWorks Online are encrypted for maximum protection. FileWorks Online is the ideal solution for implementing Sarbanes-Oxley or HIPAA compliance measures by eliminating unsecured paper and digital files. And FileWorks has instituted access and audit controls, transmission security and data integrity, and account authentication using passwords and VeriSign SSL certificates.

"We have been providing enterprise content management solutions for the past 10 years with iFile Enterprise, turning paper into secure data for medical claims, invoices, and a host of other applications," said Alan Shaw, founder and CEO of FileWorks. "However, we recognized a growing need for a less complex, more affordable ECM solution. By providing these services online, we save businesses considerably in equipment and support costs while relieving them of the responsibility and headaches of managing the IT infrastructure. Now they can stay focused on their core business."

One of the most valuable features of FileWorks Online is support for electronic signatures. Electronic signatures enable clients and vendors to sign contracts, purchasing agreements, hiring forms, and other legal documents without paper documents, saving tremendous time and expense. Email or text message notifications send alerts when a document is signed or rejected, a fax arrives, users are added to an account, or a document is viewed or saved. FileWorks Online also features an email agent that sends file link notifications to recipients so large, sensitive files are not sent as vulnerable email attachments. Integrated scanning software converts paper documents to secure digital files in a few simple steps, while faxing tools allow documents to be received directly into FileWorks Online as PDF documents. A Microsoft OutlookŪ plug-in enables users to file messages and attachments directly into FileWorks Online.

FileWorks Online is available now for a monthly subscription fee starting at $29.99 per month and includes 500 MB of storage, unlimited electronic signatures, unlimited Guest users, and instant notifications. Additional Users can be added for $14.99 per month.
