Immediacy, the UK content management provider, has launched its first enterprise class document management system, Immediacy DMS to provide organisations with an easy way to capture, store, manage, search and deliver their business critical documents. The system has been developed in response to customer demand for simpler, more cost-effective systems to manage documents and digital assets than those offered by larger enterprise content management (ECM) vendors.

The Immediacy DMS builds on the company's strong track record in delivering content management solutions for some of the UK's largest brands including the BBC, Sage, Avis, National Express and Pinsent Masons. It is designed to eliminate the complexities associated with traditional ECM systems and encourage user adoption by providing non-technical users with a powerful yet simple-to-use toolset to manage documents. Based on the .Net 2.0 framework architecture and supporting the latest protocols, including Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV), the system is extremely open and scalable making it easy for clients to tailor it to their exact requirements.

"Organisations of all shapes and sizes face increasing pressure to manage documents and digital assets in a centralised, stringent and secure environment that meets compliance requirements and can cope with burgeoning demands for information. However, document management system deployment typically requires significant investment of time, money and IT expertise," said John Greenlees, Chief Technical Officer, Immediacy. "Immediacy DMS offers a simpler alternative for organisations wanting to manage all types of documents, while assisting employees in overcoming version and distribution limitations associated with email. It also enables companies to create secure, collaborative spaces online for sharing and updating documents, prior to posting them live on web or intranet sites."

To bridge the divide between paper and electronic documents Immediacy has integrated support for eCopy, a leading add-on capability to office copiers and scanners, into the DMS. This allows users to simply run paper documents through a digital copier and have them brought directly into the DMS in electronic format.

Key features and functionality of Immediacy DMS include:

Easy information capture - Ability to capture electronic and paper documents as well as unstructured data through a user friendly interface that is browser or desktop accessible.

Straightforward management - Powerful workflow system simplifies the process of creating, updating, approving and publishing documents and assets as well as providing analysis and reporting capabilities.

Secure storage - Unlimited file management and secure server based repository that indexes documents to allow easy management, routing, sharing, printing or delivery.

Flexible delivery - Immediacy DMS can be integrated with Immediacy CMS or utilised as a standalone deployment. A full set of Office add-ins provide seamless integration with Microsoft Office.

Extensible architecture - Developers can easily add plug-ins and create unique functionality thanks to the .Net 2.0 architecture.

The Immediacy DMS complies with current accessibility recommendations to ensure that all parts of its user interface can be accessed through a combination of keyboard shortcuts, tabs and menus. The DMS complies with e-GIF directives and continued development will ensure that it will keep in step with future legislative changes.
