Autoweb, a global provider of data management solutions, announced the launch of Autoweb Fusion-DX, a data integration solution for design, engineering and manufacturing organizations to automate, control and manage data management processes throughout the extended enterprise.

As organizations expand globally, simple and efficient data management processes have become increasingly important as well as intellectual property protection. Too many companies rely today on disjointed processes that require excessive manual effort to meet global requirements.

Autoweb's Fusion-DX product automates the manual processes associated with product data management and global data exchange.

"With Fusion-DX, Autoweb is providing a solution that addresses the data exchange and data management needs our customers require in today's economy," says Nino DiCosmo, chairman, president and CEO of Autoweb.

He adds, "Within the automotive industry alone, there is a US$1.4 billion annual expense due to disparate product data handling procedures and practices. Fusion-DX addresses the factors driving that cost and lessens the data management burden."

Autoweb Fusion-DX provides users with key functionality such as:

- Efficient Global Data Exchange - Trading partner profiling allows Fusion-DX users to set trading partner preferences enabling global product data exchange from a single desktop interface regardless of geographic data exchange requirements. Fusion-DX supports most industry data exchange standards including all Autoweb Intellectual Property Exchanges, Odette, FTP, Regional Network Exchanges and Proprietary Network Exchanges.

- Desktop Integration - Fusion-DX provides standard integration into internal data management systems such as PLM, CAD, translator and viewer applications. The ability to integrate multiple engineering and design applications under a single desktop interface significantly reduces manual activities. Fusion-DX's desktop integration capabilities enhance productivity and reduce product development lead times.

- Automated Reporting and Product Data Security - Fusion-DX provides a central point for tracking all product data exchange transactions regardless of communication channels used, providing increased visibility to intellectual property throughout the extended enterprise.

In November 2005, Autoweb acquired Datranet, a UK-based developer of product-design communication and collaboration solutions. The launch of Autoweb Fusion-DX marks a significant milestone for the newly integrated company. Leveraging established technologies from both organizations, Fusion-DX delivers a robust product data integration and data exchange solution.
