Westbrook Technologies, provider of enterprise document management software for the mid-market and one of Deloitte and Touche's 2005 "Fast 50" technology companies in Connecticut, and eCopy™, Inc., a leading provider of solutions that integrate paper documents into enterprise software applications, today introduced the Fortis Connector for eCopy ShareScan OP. The Connector makes it easy for any user to scan documents directly from a network-attached copier to Westbrook's Fortis document management software, enabling users to quickly capture, track and manage paper-based information.

Through direct and seamless integration between Fortis and ShareScan OP document imaging software, the Connector improves ease-of-use and information security by providing unique user permissions and access rights at the copier. Customers can require users to enter their Fortis user name and password to protect against unauthorized use and provide a comprehensive audit trail for documents scanned at the copier, which is a critical requirement for organizations that store sensitive information in their document management system. Changes to user profiles, permissions, or folders made from any PC client in the network are immediately available, making information management from the copier as efficient as from the desktop. Additionally, the Connector simplifies set-up and administration by using application programming interfaces (APIs) that convert eCopy ShareScan OP into a client of the Fortis server at the copier.

"As e-business proliferates, there is an increasing need to incorporate paper documents into electronic workflows," said Edward Schmid, eCopy President and CEO. "By using eCopy's Software Developers Kit to quickly and easily integrate their application with ShareScan OP, Westbrook has provided a means to add paper-based information to Fortis directly from a network-attached copier, making it easier to speed information flow and address various compliance requirements such as HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley."

According to Paul Lord, President and CEO, Westbrook Technologies, "We are proud of our long standing relationship with eCopy and are pleased to bring the Fortis Connector for eCopy ShareScan OP to our customers around the world. eCopy's Open Platform Architecture enables the product to support Canon, HP, Ricoh, Sharp and Toshiba copiers, which is a significant benefit for our customers. Additionally, its easy implementation makes the product attainable for small to mid-sized businesses with limited IT support staff."

eCopy ShareScan OP software helps transform network-attached copiers into information hubs that improve business processes and the security of paper-based information. Through the use of eCopy Connectors, organizations can use ShareScan OP to improve workflows by scanning documents directly into enterprise applications such as content management, enterprise e-mail, and fax server software.

The Connector provides full function integration between eCopy ShareScan OP imaging software, Fortis and Canon, HP, Ricoh, Sharp and Toshiba digital copiers -- or any TWAIN-supported document scanner.

The Fortis Connector for eCopy ShareScan OP is available through Westbrook's elite Partners such as IKON Office Solutions (NYSE: IKN), InfiNet Business Systems, MT Business Technologies, and more.
