Interwoven Announces Availability of Integration With MS SharePoint Portal Server

Interwoven, Inc., provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions for business, announced the availability of a new integration with Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003, reinforcing the company's strategy to deliver high velocity solutions to the professional services industry for end-to-end content management. The new integration, Interwoven WorkSite for SharePoint, extends the ease-of-use and ubiquity of Interwoven's industry-leading Collaborative Document Management (CDM) solution by enabling business professionals to easily access Interwoven CDM within the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 environment.
The WorkSite for SharePoint integration is the first offering resulting from the recently expanded relationship between Interwoven and Microsoft ("Interwoven Delivers High-Velocity ECM Solutions on the Microsoft Platform," May 12, 2005) to enable information workers -- starting with professional services companies including legal, accounting, management consulting, corporate legal departments, and IT consulting -- to manage the entire content lifecycle through the tight integration of the Interwoven WorkSite CDM, E-Mail Management, and RecordsManager solutions with the Microsoft platform including Office and Windows systems.
Currently, Interwoven WorkSite is used by more than 1,500 professional services companies worldwide, while a number of business professionals at these firms also leverage Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003 to collaborate and share information. Through the integration, Interwoven is enabling these professional services companies to more effectively leverage existing investments in these two technologies by providing business professionals with a secure and easy way to access data stored in Interwoven WorkSite via SharePoint Portal Server 2003. As a result, professional services firms can benefit from an end-to-end CDM solution that leverages Interwoven's unique matter-centric collaboration (MCC) approach, in which all of the documents, e-mails and other types of content pertaining to a given matter or client are managed together in unified workspaces.
The integration is being applauded by professional services companies such as Goodwin Proctor, an AmLaw 100 law firm. "The integration of Interwoven and Microsoft is a definite win for professional services companies," said Peter Lane, director of Information Technology at Goodwin Proctor. "Both Interwoven and Microsoft continue to be key software suppliers for us, and this new integration will enable us to further simplify our IT operations, streamline information compliance, and facilitate increased user adoption of both technologies since users now have multiple ways to access a very holistic and easy-to-use Collaborative Document Management solution."
"Interwoven's WorkSite for SharePoint integration will provide our professional services customers with tremendous value," said Brian Zeve, managing director, Professional Services Industry Group at Microsoft Corporation. "Professional services companies can realize greater benefit from both their Microsoft and Interwoven investments with significant productivity gains through easier collaboration and more effective information sharing."
The integration of Interwoven ECM solutions with technologies like SharePoint Portal Server 2003 is enabling Interwoven to provide customers with access to content anywhere and at anytime via portals, intranets, extranets, the desktop, and more. By enabling organizations to imbed WorkSite capabilities directly within the SharePoint Portal, Interwoven is empowering business professionals to quickly and easily achieve end-to-end content management without having to change or disrupt existing business processes.
"In today's highly competitive business climate, professional services firms are seeking technologies that will enable them to provide a new level of client service above and beyond what the competition can offer," said Neil Araujo, vice president, professional services solutions at Interwoven. "By expanding our relationship with Microsoft and bringing to market an integration with SharePoint Portal Server 2003, Interwoven is further enabling our customers to achieve increased levels of productivity, while simultaneously streamlining IT operations for maximum ROI."23.08.2005, Interwoven, Inc.
