New Release Extends Access to Disparate Content

Mobius Management Systems, Inc. announced version 2.2 of ViewDirect® Total Content Integrator, a Web services-based facility for cross-repository, cross-platform access to content in any format from any source. The new release significantly expands access by adding packaged adapters to IBM DB2 Content Manager OnDemand, EMC/Documentum, Microsoft SharePoint, and SQL Server, as well as a software development kit (SDK) that enables fast development of adapters to any content source, including in-house and other custom-built repositories. Previously released adapters provide access to FileNet content as well as file systems, databases, e-mail archives, Web sites, search engines and Mobius’s own ViewDirect TCM repository.

"ViewDirect Total Content Integrator delivers on the promise of true enterprise-wide content integration,” said Andi Mann, content integration product manager at Mobius. "Content is dispersed throughout the global enterprise in diverse content management systems, databases, e-mail applications, and file systems—more than 5 repositories in 43% of companies and more than 15 in 25% of companies, according to analyst estimates. ViewDirect Total Content Integrator makes this information easily and quickly available by creating an environment in which users don’t have to know where or how content is stored.”

Content integration streamlines operations and reduces costs in many functional areas of the organization by providing a complete picture of a customer, a product or a transaction through the consolidation of information in disparate systems. Customer service responds more quickly to inquiries. Compliance and legal officers have faster, more efficient access to corporate records. Mergers and acquisitions cause fewer disruptions and less duplicated effort. Critical performance information—in multiple formats, from multiple systems—is available quickly for sound decision making and improved agility.

ViewDirect Total Content Integrator is a fully integrated component of the ViewDirect TCM suite of total content management solutions. ViewDirect TCM is comprised of enabling software that meets all enterprise content requirements, including e-mail and records management; Web site, digital asset and document management; workflow and imaging; Internet presentment; enterprise report distribution; and a compliance module that ensures the accuracy of enterprise information.

Adapters

The new adapters for IBM OnDemand, EMC/Documentum, Microsoft SharePoint, and SQL Server repositories further extend the fast, easy and secure access already available for FileNet and other sources. Adapters simultaneously translate and pass queries from the user to multiple content sources and deliver the requested content back to the user. Functionality includes:

* Enterprise Query: Enables a user to locate and retrieve content from any repository along with content from other sources with a single search;

* Index Mapping: Maps unique index names and formats in one repository to indexes in other repositories, eliminating user error and simplifying cross-repository searching;

* Content Delivery: Delivers content to a Web browser, a desktop application or a viewing client like Mobius’s DocumentDirect® for the Internet for maximum flexibility and a streamlined user experience.

Adapter Software Development Kit (SDK)

In addition to packaged adapters delivered with ViewDirect Total Content Integrator, adapters can be built for any content source using the SDK. The Adapter SDK includes the required program modules along with complete documentation, sample code and sample data, making development fast and easy using in-house resources, system integrators or Mobius Professional Services.

"As enterprise content management evolves, repository services play an ever more dominant role,” said David Winkler, vice president of product marketing at Mobius. "The ability to consolidate content across multiple, disparate sources is a top priority for organizations struggling to control costs and streamline operations in an environment roiled by regulatory requirements that govern the storage, retention and access to corporate information.”
