We are looking for a Doc Mgmnt system that supports the following:
- Version Control - every save = a new version
- Offline working - we often need to work disconnected from the network/internet. We need to know that when copying our work back later we do not overwrite other peoples changes to the same document
- Views - Project Managers think in terms of their Project, technical staff think more about 'products'. We'd like to have different views/structures to our files to suit different job roles (like cataloging music in windows media player by artist, composer, genre etc)
- Find things! - To be able to enforce some simple meta data, like doc type, project, product etc so that we may then view and search by such metadata.
- Workflow would be nice, but can manage outside of a tool if required.
Have already discounted Alfresco, KnowledgeTree, Sharepoint and a few others. We were interested in M-Files, but it doesn't appear to like working on our standard desktop. So we're looking for something a bit like M-Files to try out.
Any suggestions anyone?
